On August 3,  2016, the delegation of Israeli Consulate in St. Petersburg was welcomed by  the rector of Pskov state university Yury Demyanenko. The meeting was also attended by the first secretary of the Russian Foreign Office in Pskov, Vladimir Spiridonov and the second secretary Andrey Makarov.
During the meeting rector told the Consul about the history of the university, its structure, number of students, foreign students who study here, the university partners and educational programs. Michael Lotem said that Pskov University has many similarities with the University of Haifa, which is the major center of higher education in the field of humanities and social science and  arts in Israel. Representatives of the delegation got very much interested in scientific research performed in PskovSU. Academic mobility issues were also discussed at the meeting.
